The Monarch
About This Spot
Stepping into The Monarch, nestled on Stillwater’s lively Main Street, feels like crossing into a quietly refined world where every detail invites you to slow down and savor the moment. The warm glow of Victorian-inspired interiors wraps around you—a calm, elegant backdrop that encourages intimate conversation and lingering well past the last bite. It’s a place where the pace is measured, but the energy hums softly beneath the polished surfaces and thoughtful touches.
The atmosphere strikes a graceful balance between upscale and inviting, making it an ideal setting whether you’re celebrating a special evening or simply carving out time to reconnect over a carefully crafted meal. The attentive staff moves through the roomy, yet cozy, dining area with a genuine warmth that complements the setting, offering a quiet sense of belonging rather than formality.
At The Monarch, the menu feels like a curated journey through New American flavors that respect both tradition and unexpected fusion. Ingredients are treated with a certain reverence—whether it’s the earthy richness of a mushroom crostini or the bright, fresh notes found in salads featuring seasonal fruit and nuts. Dishes arrive as thoughtful compositions balancing texture and taste, often inviting you to discover new combinations like the interplay of spices in a coconut curry or the subtle complexity of a perfectly pan-seared fish served alongside thoughtfully paired sides.
Desserts here don’t simply close the meal; they offer a gentle, memorable farewell with comforting classics reimagined through delicate layers of flavor and presentation. The pace of service and the refined setting encourage you to appreciate every moment, be it the swirl of a dark chocolate tiramisu or the delicate crunch of roasted pistachios sprinkled over a creamy pot de crème.
The Monarch feels like a quiet gem in Stillwater’s culinary scene—a place where the thoughtful care of the kitchen and the inviting intimacy of the space collide. Whether you’re seated for an indulgent steak from the menu or sharing a plate designed for two, the experience is defined by a subtle joy in discovery and the simple comfort of attentive hospitality.

This place is really cool inside. Feels very upscale and Victorian feel. Mixed drinks were top tier and the food was great. My wife and I had the steaks, which were great. The brown sugar carrots were awesome. My children had the burgers and my son said it was the best burger he ever had. Now this is a nice place and not cheap. Great atmosphere for nice date or party events.

The Monarch is the best place to eat in Stillwater. The service is wonderful, the atmosphere is classy, and the food is delicious. The owners and workers are kind and focused on giving you the best experience when it comes to fine dining. I tried some potatoes that the head chef AJ made and they were phenomenal. I lived in Idaho for years so I know a good potato and these are the best potatoes I've ever had.

The Monarch is a delightful dining experience with a small, intricate, and carefully crafted menu. It's not overly busy, offering a pleasant atmosphere. Come for the food; seriously, it's divine! At Monarch, it isn't just a meal; it is a Stillwater dining experience, and one of the finest at that.

I visited The Monarch in December 2023 and again in December 2024, and both experiences were absolutely fantastic! I love the vibrant atmosphere of this place. The food and cocktails have consistently been great. During my first visit, I ordered the Pecan Waldorf Salad with added chicken—it was fresh and delicious. With the updated menu on my second visit, I tried the blackened chicken. It was yummy and just the right portion for me (I don't eat much for dinner). Although I don’t recall the exact name of the cocktail, you can check out the photo of the green drink I had. I asked the waiter for a low-sugar option, and he recommended this one which was really good! Also, as a chocolate lover, I liked more the chocolate pot de crème dessert from my first visit over the peppermint pecan ball I had on my second visit.

This place is beyond stunning. We just popped in for a drink and small bite after an OSU game. The menu is currently limited but we hear more to come! It’s beautiful, the cocktails were great, the people were awesome, and the food was delicious. Go check it out!

Love that they have a limited menu, good quality and tasty food, and good drinks! Had been there a couple months ago so don't remember name of the server, but he did a great job and was very attentive. The ambience is great too, everything is tastefully done in my opinion. We definitely need such a place in Stillwater!
